Thank You, Patients… Thank You, Doctor
hye, there!! =)
i am currently in Dermatology Posting. Dermatology is about skin and also involves mouths and genitalia..
Its my first week and i only have two weeks for this posting. As usual, we will go to clinic and join our specialist to look at patients, treat and learnt. I havent been learning much since i am still not able to get rid of my laziness. Plus!! all the skin conditions somehow look the same. Uhh.. i seriously find it hard to differentiate them. and when our lecturer asks, “so, what’s the differential diagnosis?” i’ll be ternganga!! lost. huhu…
however, today i did learnt something… there’s a patient with severe atopic eczema. her hands, legs, body.. only the face not affected. she’s 15. She looked very depressed. Doctor asked 1 q, she answer sepatah. then keep on tunduk je…
And there is also a girl, not sure of her age who suffer from psoriasis. it wasnt plaque or guttate. it was nearly erythrodermic.
i feel so sad… pity them so much.. even me.. if i got few jerawat, i’ll be very anxious and embarassed. i imagined what would they feel with those lesions all over their body? how did they managed to survive? the stigma of their disease.. people sometimes think its contagious, and surely wont be friend wif these people.
i felt like crying. i wanted to talk to them. let they pour their hearts out. if they are okay, i want to say how proud i am. if they arent, i wanna comfort them. let they know that.. owh.. i dont know what would i say to them. but, i understand their feelings…
so, dearest patients… i wanna thank u all for being there to let me learnt. medicine, life and love.
dearest doctors… thanks for treating these patients in need. thanx for not being judgemental. thanx for understanding… thanx for teaching me to be empathic doctor, thanx for everything…
